The IHS wrestling team has been pretty busy since winter break by going to 3 of the toughest tournaments in a row.  Your Patriot wrestlers represented well at each tournament with standout performances from 3 wrestlers.

Jasiel Tapia faced one of the toughest heavyweight lineups to place 6th at the Peoria Invitational.

Stand out female wrestler, Marcela Barrio had to wrestle up a weight class at Moon Valley but was still able to place third.  When she wrestled at her normal weight at the Brad Jones Pack Invitational, she pinned all of her opponents to not only win first, but she was also named outstanding wrestler of the match for being the most dominate girl wrestler in any weight class!

Alex Cortez placed 4th at the Moon Valley Invitational ending his undefeated streak, but came back to join Marcy as not only the Brad Jones Champion, but he also won outstanding boy wrestler of the meet! After that, Alex was able to push through an injury to go undefeated at the Peoria invitational and win what is considered one of the hardest tournaments in the country!  With that victory, Alex is now ranked first in the state for the 220 lb weight class!!!  Congratulations to all of the IHS wrestlers.
