Boys Soccer Program Makes History

A Competitive Team with Upset Victories
Boys Soccer at State Semi-Finals

The 2015/2016 Soccer season proved to be a history making one for the Boys Soccer Program. Looking back, advancing to the State Semifinals was the furthest the program has ever finished. In addition, the 15 wins this year, were the most in any one season.

The Patriots entered the State tournament as the 13th seed, but proved to be a competitive team, with upset victories over 5th seed Sierra Linda and 4th seed Tucson Catalina Magnet on the road. "It was a good experience" said sophomore forward Aaron Vilchis. "It felt better winning a state game than winning a season one. It was a faster and more physical game. The games were always intense".

"Hopefully having a taste of the postseason, will keep the boys motivated to get back there again" said Head Coach Sergio Gomez. "We really appreciate the support of the Administration, student body, and especially the Girls Soccer team during our run. They truly displayed Patriot Spirit!!"

The bar has definitely been set for the Boys soccer program.

Congratulations to the Independence Soccer Team. We are all proud of you!
