Shane’s Rib Shack (Marshall; 9/30)

Everybody loves Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips for $5.00.

Speech and Debate (9/30)

Speech and debate will now be meeting on Mondays. We will be meeting this Monday, 9/30 to discuss upcoming activities and choose debating events. New members are still welcome. See you Monday at 2:45

Do you have a great scary story that you are just dying to share? Are you the next Edgar Allan Poe? Well, you are in luck. Submit your best scary story to Mrs. Ehrick by October 11 through Google documents, and the winner will have his/her story turned into a professional podcast. See Mrs. Ehrick in the media center for more details.

The Young Environmentalist’s Club would like to invite YOU to come on out and join us TOMORROW/TODAY after school at 2:45 pm in Room G-11, Ms. Kieu’s classroom and join current Young Environmentalist’s and Jr. ROTC in getting community service credit while helping the Patriot Nation Environment in Recycling.

THIS Thursday Y.E.C. & ROTC will be once again “adopting” 75th Avenue between Bethany Home Road & Glendale Avenue right after school to clean it up just before Fall Break, so join us for this fun-filled community service!

Chess Team (Bolton; 10/3- 10/4)

The Independence Chess team competed valiantly on their “Quest” to qualify for the “State Team Chess Tournament” for the 3rd straight year last Friday & Saturday at Alhambra HS, but fell just short with 3 wins and 2 draws. Indy Chess finished the regular season with a 6-3-2 overall regular, good enough for top 10 schools in Region 2.  Led by senior captains Ethan Amaya and Kevin Romero, and joined by other top varsity players, Ian Amaya, Ricardo Molina, and David Vo.  Varsity Alternates Giuseppe Avalos, Travon Carpenter, Azekiel Carrasco, Alijah Gilder, Matthew Hernandez, Kevin Reyes, and newcomer Ruegi (roo-e-gee) Santiago played strong enough to qualify for the Region 2 Individual Qualifier to be held on Friday, 10/25 and Saturday, 10/26 at Metro Tech. Practices continue after school in Room B-24 at 2:45 to 3:35 pm. Rise up Patriot Chess!

GCC ACE (Trezza; 10/4- 10/15)

Sophomores Only: Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering free college classes through the ACE program. GCC will be doing a presentation of all the information and how to apply. It will be Wednesday, October 16th after school at 2:45-3:30 in the PAC. GCC representatives will be presenting and answering questions on how to apply. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity! Be there!

Patriot Hut (Munoz; 10/4)

Hey Patriots, thanks so much for your support of the Patriot Hut this quarter. DECA is proud to bring you great lunch options Tuesday to Friday every week, plus snacks and drinks after school.  The weather is turning nice, so plan to grab your food at the Patriot Hut and hang out with your friends outside!  A fresh delivery stock was just delivered this morning, so come on down and take your pick of food, chips and drinks!

CHEMISTRY CLUB (KLEISSLE; 10/4-10/14)

Good Morning Atoms!! All Chemistry club members please meet in Mrs. Kleissle’s room on Monday October 14th at 2:45 pm to discuss fall festival and make final plans for Elephant’s Toothpaste. Halloween is coming, do you know how to make bubbly concoctions, we will show you how!
