TUESDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

 

BOOKSTORE (Holt; 4/19- 5/5)

Seniors – On Monday, April 29th you will be receiving your Senior Cards.  The cards need to be signed off by all of your teachers.

1st Stop will be the Career Center.

2nd Stop is the Cafeteria Before or After School ONLY to clear all fines, then your account will be closed for charges. 

3rd Stop is to the Media center.

LAST STOP is the Bookstore, where you bring in your books, pay any outstanding fines, and turn in your card, if you DO NOT complete the process you will not walk in graduation.

This is all done before you can receive your Cap N Gown and Graduation Tickets on May 21st at Practice Graduation. 

Link Crew (Rux; 4/25-4/30)

If you are interested in joining Link Crew or missed either meeting please see Mr. Metoyer in room B-23. Remember applications are due on Wednesday May 1st. Turn in your completed application form to one of the following: Mr. Barton B-21, Mr. Metoyer B-23, Ms. Mitchell 121, Ms. Montfoort 223, Ms. Tapia R-19, Ms. Gardner in the Athletics Office, or Ms. Rux R-10.

Elevate I.H.S. (Bolton, Foster, Pace; 4/30)

Elevate I.H.S. (Surge) Christian Fellowship Club will gather TOMORROW, Wednesday morning before school at a special time, 7:40 am around the school flagpole for our monthly “Meet you at the flag pole” gathering for the positive intentions of our school’s student body, faculty, staff, and admin, not to forget successful testing, graduation for our seniors and ALL the energy needed to finish the school year STRONG!  As usual, there will have FREE Donuts and/or drinks available while supplies last!

Elevate will also meet after school as usual at 2:45 in the Mini-auditorium for anyone that wants to join us for fellowship, food, and fun times.  ALL current Elevate I.H.S. Christian Fellowship Club members please come and bring a friend along.  Look forward to seeing you there and remember that U R Loved!

National Honor Society (4/30)

Congratulations to all new members of National Honor Society. NHS celebrated our annual induction ceremony last night as we said farewell to our seniors and welcomed 46 new members. Big thanks to our sponsors, Mr. Gaspar and Mr. Carreon; as well as our officers, Lithzy Gutierrez, Moraima Beltran, Karol Rios, Lili Gutierrez, and Jackie De Luna. Congrats to all who attended.

Theatre Club (Farson; 4/30)

Theatre Club members: please attend a meeting on Wednesday, 5/1/19 in Ms. Farsons room at 2:45pm. We will be voting on awards, so make your vote count and be there! Please also get your dinner theatre tickets for Thursday May 16th. They will be on sale until May 9th. See Ms. Farson to reserve your tickets in time.

Patriot Hut Hours This Week (A Munoz; 4/30)

Patriots – this is the last week you can take advantage of all the delicious options available at the Patriot Hut for lunch.  If you haven’t tried all the foods from Big Daddy catering, go on down there today through Friday, because they’ll be closed after this week. 

Book Club (Ehrick; 4/30)

Attention book club students,

Our puppet show for little kids is today at Glendale Public library. Please be there no later than 4:00 PM. Snacks will be provided.

Choir Auditions (Merrill; 4/30)

Choir Auditions start this week! Come by the choir room to pick up your audition agreement afterschool. If you love to sing, come to talk to Ms. Merrill about choir to determine if you should audition for the intermediate or advanced group. All are welcome to sign up for the beginning group. Good Luck singers!

The 5th and final session this school year for Driver's Ed starts Tuesday May 28th at 8AM to Noon. Cost is $210 dollars. You need a valid drivers license, permit and student ID. You need to register at the Moon Valley bookstore by May23. 

Art & Photo (Cramer; 5/1)

Attention Art and Photo Club members, and anyone else attending the Phoenix Art Museum field trip…

We will be leaving at 2:50 pm today. Meet in Ms. Cramer’s room, room 232 no later than 2:45 today. Do not be late.

Swim and Dive (Hallum; 5/2- 5/6)

Attention Patriots.  Did you know that swimming is a low impact, complete body workout?  What does that mean? You can tone and strengthen all your muscle groups with a minimum risk of injury.  Did you also know that the swim and dive team is currently holding open swim sessions where you can learn safe and proper techniques to maximize the benefits of such workouts?  Open swim is every Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:00 until 4:30.  This opportunity is open to all Independence students, so stop by coach Hallum's room, R-25 for information.   

STUCO (Marshall; 5/2- 5/3)

Today and tomorrow is Class Elections—please make your voice count by voting during both lunches.

Young Environmentalist’s Club (Bolton, Kieu; 5/2)

The Young Environmentalist’s Club and Jr. ROTC Community Service will meet in Ms. Kieu’s Room G-11 TODAY after school at 2:45 pm. Please come out and join all of the Young Environmentalist’s and Jr. ROTC in getting some very easy community service hours while helping the Patriot Nation Environment in Recycling.

Choir Auditions conclude today. If you auditioned for Concert Choir or Vocal Ensemble, you should come to the choir room today for placement. This will be when Ms. Merrill will build the ensembles and blend voices. You cannot miss this if you are going to be considered for Vocal Ensemble. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Local Student Art Show (Cramer; 5/3)

Get excited: The annual Independence Student Art Show is just one week away. Public viewing, such as family and friends that do not attend Independence as students will be from 2:30-7:00 pm in the Mall Area. The Student Art Show will be viewable to all IHS students all day. Stay tuned for more information next week.

Everybody love Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you their tasty barbeque. You have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips with chips for $5.00.
