MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Wrestling (Cumpton; 10/30- 11/1)

Winter is coming, and the wrestling season is coming with it!  This is the first year ever for a separate girl’s team and we need more lady Patriots to help make history.  All guys and girls that are interested, make sure to get cleared, and head up to the wrestling room behind the bleachers in the main gym on Monday at 3:30.  See you there!

Shane’s Rib Shack (Marshall; 11/4)

Everybody loves Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips for $5.00.

The Patriot Performers fall play, “Play On!” opens on Thursday 11/7. This is the hilarious story of a theatre group trying desperately to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from a overbearing author who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance, in which anything that can go wrong, does. The play is Thursday November 7th and Friday November 8th at 6pm in the PAC.

Empowerment Club (Ehrick; Frazen, 11/4- 11/6)

Hey Patriots! Do you want to watch a fun and empowering movie with friends? Come to the Media Center afterschool on Wednesday November 6th to watch Hidden Figures! HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of three African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history. Hope to see you there!

Girls Soccer (Monaghan; 11/4)

All girls interested in playing soccer please see Ms. Monaghan ASAP. Tryouts start today. If you are cleared please meet on the JV baseball field at 3:30. We are excited for the season:)

Swim and Dive (Hallum; 11/6)

The Swim and Dive team had a great night on Friday at the district championships, earning a total of 11 medals at the meet.

The girl’s 200 yard Medley Relay team of Diana Lizarraga, Ashley Morales, Briana Gonzalez and Breezia Medina started the night off right, cutting 5 seconds off of their season best time to earn a spot on the podium and take home a medal.

In the 200 yard freestyle, seniors Briana Gonzalez and Breezia Medina, Sophomore Raymundo Cruz as well as freshmen Alexis Pina and Aidan Gradillos dove into action all adding on great performances.

Up next was the 200 yard individual medley, where sophomore Ashely Morales finished in the top ten and sophomore Diana Lizarraga earned her way back on to the podium for a second medal and posted a state qualifying time.

In the 100 butterfly, Raymundo Cruz had another great swim and sophomore Ian Amaya cut 2 seconds off of his previous personal best to finish 6th overall.

During the 100 freestyle Sophomore Khang Nguyen dominated his race and the Junior Guillermo Cazarez cut over 2 and half seconds to jump two places, post a state qualifying time and earn himself a spot on the podium to take home an individual medal.

Briana Gonzalez, Ashley Morales, Ian Amaya and sophomore Herman Granados all finish in the top ten in the 500 yard freestyle.

During the 100 backstroke, Freshmen Alexis Pina and August Htoo put forth some of their best performances of the year, Junior Guillermo Ocampo won his race and Diana Lizarraga swam her way to her third medal of the night, posting yet another state qualifying time.

In the 100 yard breaststroke, Khang Nguyen and Guillermo Cazarez were at it again, both finishing in the top 10.

The boys 4X100 relay then finished a great night of competition by achieving an Independence High School First. Guillermo Cazarez, Ian Amaya, Aidan Gradillo and Khang Nguyen put forth an incredible effort to earn second place.

Great Job Patriots, your coaches and school are proud of your efforts.
