MONDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS  

 

GCC ACE (Trezza; 10/4- 10/15)

Sophomores Only: Glendale Community College (GCC) is offering free college classes through the ACE program. GCC will be doing a presentation of all the information and how to apply. It will be Wednesday, October 16th after school at 2:45-3:30 in the PAC. GCC representatives will be presenting and answering questions on how to apply. This is a scholarship program for free college classes at Glendale Community College and a great opportunity! Be there!

CHEMISTRY CLUB (KLEISSLE; 10/14)

Good Morning Atoms!! All Chemistry club members please meet in Mrs. Kleissle’s room on Monday October 14th at 2:45 pm to discuss fall festival and make final plans for Elephant’s Toothpaste. Halloween is coming, do you know how to make bubbly concoctions, we will show you how!

Shane’s Rib Shack (Marshall; 10/14)

Everybody loves Barbeque and Shane’s Rib Shack will be here every Monday to bring you’re their tasty barbeque. You will have the option to purchase a shredded barbeque sandwich or buffalo chicken strips for $5.00.

Girls Soccer (Monaghan; 10/14)

Reminder there will be open field for girls’ soccer today at 5:30. If you are interested in playing girls soccer stop by room 211 and get information.

Haunted House (Pena; 10/15)

Attention Haunted House cast members: As of today, if you have NOT turned in costume ideas and a signed agreement to Mr. Pena or Ms. Farson, you will no longer be in the haunted House. The due date has passed and roles have been filled.

For those of you who have turned in the requirements, there will be at mandatory meeting on Friday 10/18/19. Please meet in Mr. Pena’s room, R9, directly after school. We look forward to seeing everyone at IHS Fright Night at the Fall Festival on Saturday 10/26/19.

Young Environmentalist’s Club (Bolton; Kieu; 10/17)

The Young Environmentalist’s Club would like to send a very loud SHOUT out to the Jr. ROTC Volunteers that did a SUPERB job Thursday before break with their “adoption” of 75th Avenue between Bethany Home Road & Glendale Avenue right after school!  They succeeded in making it a fun-filled community service experience!

Normal school recycling continues TODAY after school at 2:45 pm in Room G-11 so join current Young Environmentalist’s & Jr. ROTC in getting community service credit while helping “Recycle” Patriot Nation.

No experience required!

Hiking Club (Mitchell; 10/17- 10/22)

Patriots: Do you need a break from the stress of school work? Do you want to enjoy some time in the great outdoors? Then we have the perfect place for you! Come join the IHS Hiking Club! Our first meeting will be held Wednesday, October 23rd at 8:15 in room 121. We will be discussing our first hiking trip to White Tank Mountain Regional Park! If you would like to go on the trip, it is important that you attend the meeting for all the details. See Ms. Chandler or Ms. Mitchell if you have any questions.

Girls Basketball (Gardner; 10/17)

There will be a mandatory meeting for all girls interested in playing basketball on Friday at 2:45 in the main gym.  Please see Coach Gardner if you are unable to attend.

PINK OUT (Monaghan; 10/17)

Tonight, at the Volleyball game we will be having a pink out. Please come support your ladies and wear your pink attire. We will be supporting Breast Cancer. Everyone is welcome. We would love to see all of our teachers and staff attend this game. The girls are playing amazing and want you there. WEAR YOUR PINK. See you at 6:00.

Volleyball (Monaghan; 10/17)

Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team who defeated the Agua Fria Owls with a score of 3-2. Great work ladies. Keep fighting. Coaches are proud of you.

Patriot Hut (Munoz; 10/18)

The Patriot Hut will be open on Monday, October 21st, to accommodate a special event. Consider going down to grab some lunch!  Remember, normal operating hours are Tuesday through Friday, both lunches and after school!

Varsity Volleyball (Monaghan; 10/18)

Congrats to the Varsity Volleyball team who defeated Goldwater in 3. Ladies rocked it. We were able to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month As well as support one of our loved ones who is fighting breast cancer. 

Swim and Dive (Hallum; 10/18)

The swim and dive team wrapped up their regular season last night at Apollo high school as both the boys and girls teams beat the Peoria Panthers, but came up short against the Apollo Hawks.

The girls team, led by seniors Breezia Medina, Briana Gonzalez and veterans Ashley Morales, Diana Lizarraga Rochin and Sera Baker with rookies Alexis Pina, Maria Artalejo Soto and Celeste Cortez ended the regular season with a winning record of 6 and 5. The boys team, led by Senior Victor Rojas and veterans Guillermo Cazarez, Herman Cortez, Khang Ngyuen, Ian Amaya, Guillermo Ocampo and Gerardo Molles with rookie swimmers Aidan Gradillas, August Htoo, Mohammed Janabi, Kenneth Scott and Raymundo Cruz finished with an 8 and 3 record, one of the better records in IHS swim and dive history. After a great regular season, the swim and dive team focuses in on their preparation for the District Championships in their efforts to qualify for State.
