I instruct the Culinary Arts program at Independence High School. 

The Culinary Arts program is designed to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills required for food production  and service occupations. Culinary 1-2 classes are for entry level students, Culinary 3-4 is a more advanced class for students with experience in the Culinary 1-2 class, and Culinary 5-6 is the most advanced class that is required to run the service counter provided to other students. Students completing this program will possess the technical knowledge and skills required for planning, selecting, storing, purchasing, preparing and serving quality food products. Nutritive values, safety and sanitation procedures, use of commercial equipment, serving techniques, special diets and management of food establishments will also be studied.

Culinary students have the opportunity to join FCCLA if once enrolled in a Culinary Class. The members of this club have a committed interest in culinary arts and participate in activities including State Culinary Competitions to enhance their understanding of food and have fun. Please see me if you are interested in joining.
