Over the weekend of January 13th, Independence held Unitown. Unitown is a yearly empowerment summit here at Independence. Unitown teaches students about difficult issues that include bullying, prejudice, family issues, suicide prevention, and other topics. During the event, students complete activities and discussions with large and small groups. At times, these activities can be very challenging for both students and staff. 

The purpose of Unitown is to teach students how to address these issues at school in order to make positive changes in their lives, with their families, and in their community. This is a great opportunity for students to participate in a once in a lifetime experience.
