The Numbers Are In: It’s a Great Time to Be a Patriot
We have some exciting news to share, Patriots!
The latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings are in, and Independence High School has plenty to celebrate. IHS earned the #65 spot among 911 public high schools across Arizona, placing us in approximately the top 7% statewide. Independence was also ranked #51 in the Phoenix metro area and #3 among Glendale Union High School District high schools. Another number we are especially proud to see: a 92% graduation rate!
These numbers are exciting, but they don't happen by accident.
Every day, there is work happening across our campus that may never make it onto a ranking or scorecard. It happens when a teacher stays a little longer to help a student understand a difficult concept. It happens when counselors help students plan for what comes after graduation, when support staff make sure students have what they need to succeed, and when coaches, sponsors and staff give students reasons to feel connected to their school.
It even happens before many of us arrive in the morning and after we've gone home for the day, as our custodial, maintenance, cafeteria, security and office staff work behind the scenes to keep IHS running.
And, of course, it happens through our students.
Our Patriots show up each day, take on challenges, learn from setbacks and continue working toward graduation and whatever comes next. A ranking can give us a snapshot of that success, but the real story is everything that goes into getting there.
That is The Patriot Way in action.
At Independence, “Pride and Perseverance Every Day”, isn't simply something we say. It is reflected in a community of students, educators, staff and families working together and expecting our students to keep moving forward.
We are proud of where IHS landed in this year's rankings, and even more proud of the people whose work made that recognition possible.
Our Patriots are learning. They're growing. They're graduating. They're thriving. And there's plenty more ahead!
IHS is the place to be.
