Mark C. Gaspar

Biography:
I am a former IHS graduate who is honored to serve this community and school! I am a graduate of Stanford University, where I graduated with honors. I am the 2007 recipient of the Achievement Above All Award. I currently serve as the English Department Chairperson. I am also the head coach of the Speech and Debate Team.
2008-2009 Courses:
I teach sophomore English and accelerated (Pre-A.P.) junior English.
English 3-4 (sophomore) Objectives:
All students will create expository and persuasive essays that score proficient on the AIMS test.
All students will successfully apply reading skills and strategies to score proficient on the AIMS test.
All students will identify and comprehend basic literary elements present in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird.
Accelerated (Pre-A.P.) English 5-6 Objectives:
All students will create timed essays that score proficient on a A.P. aligned rubric.
All students will comprehend a variety of literary novels, plays, and poetry.
All students will develop oral presentation projects that score proficient on a presentation rubric.
Educational Philosophy:
All students can succeed. Public education is the "bridge" to opportunities that our great nation affords to all students.
