I teach the Introduction to Culinary Arts classes and the Culinary Arts class at Independence High School. I have been at IHS for six years, last year was the first year I taught the Culinary Arts 1-2 program, and it was a great success.

The Introduction to Culinary Arts 1-2 class is a fun program for beginners, and all the basic food preparation techniques are covered through labs and classwork.

Culintary Arts 1-2 is the more advanced class, and Intro to Culinary is the prerequisite.  The Culinary Arts 1-2 class covers the more advanced styles of cooking, garnishing, baking, and plate presentation.

Now the Culinary Arts students have the option to join FCCLA - Future Career and Community Leaders of America student organization. This CTSO club emphasizes leadership skills through teamwork.  Any past or present Family Consumer Science student interested in this program can contact me in Room 230.
